Support our farmers
Here in Parklea we are lucky enough to to have the only farmers selling direct to the public at Parklea Markets in Western Sydney.
Rod Ostini and his son Boris bring their fresh produce from Orange, New South Wales to Parklea Markets in Western Sydney every weekend.
The fruit is grown in the Orange district of NSW, a major cherry and apple growing area. In fact, according to the Orange District Fruit Growers, “The region grows more apples than Tasmania and is fast catching Young as the largest cherry producing area in Australia.”
We thank Rod and Boris for years of effort bringing down their wonderful produce to Parklea Markets every weekend. We are blessed with the freshest fruit at great prices and we recommend them to you too.
Get along down to Parklea Markets this weekend to find crispest apples and the sweetest pears. You will find their stall at location 257. Just look out for the big banner with “Australian Apples Grown in Orange”.
Support our farmers and we may continue to have the freshest seasonal fruits for years to come.
Below are some images I took today showing the many varieties of apples and pears that come to us all the way from Orange. They are a feast for the eyes and for the tastebuds. I am crunching on a sweet Red Delicious apple as I write and will be getting ready to make an apple cake with the Granny Smith apples I bought.
You will find my recipes for cooking with apples and pears below.
